Yes, it’s true, summer is just starting, so why am I thinking ahead to the Fall and the Holidays? Well, one reason to start planning your Fall and Holiday trips to NYC early is because it is an extremely popular time to visit New York; therefore, it is wise to begin planning and yes, booking, hotels rooms and Broadway shows in the summer.
Take me for example. I spent sometime deciding what shows I wanted to fill out the rest of my year this past week. Just having see Exit the King, (which was wonderful), I am still trying to figure out how to fit in Rock of Ages and yet another performance of Mamma Mia (call me crazy but I can’t get enough of the show) in before November when I have Billy Elliot tickets as well as Jersey Boys for Thanksgiving weekend.
Rounding out the year, I will be heading to see the Radio City Christmas Show (yes, it’s a yearly tradition) in early December, and, will be treating a friend’s daughter to Wicked right after Christmas during her break from school. Somewhere in between, somehow, I will manage at least once performance at the Metropolitan Opera and see The Nutcracker.
I’m exhausted just thinking about it, and, I haven’t even factored in parties or other events that are taking place for me this Fall and early Winter. Now, before you sit back and say “well good for you” in a slightly sarcastic tone, the point of me telling you this information is to let you know that even planning this far ahead, the tickets I have obtained for the shows above are good but, not great. And, I am not one who will bow down and pay $300 per ticket for premium seats.
I am not trying to panic you but, simply making you aware that show tickets are selling and the very good to good seats for the most popular shows are going very fast. And, let’s face it, if you’re visiting New York City part of the fun is attending a Broadway production.
Oh yes, it’s does become costly quickly, so how does one overcome pricing issues? My favorite and very reliable source for tickets at a discount is BroadwayBox.com I am often dumbfounded that more people aren’t aware of this service! And, no I don’t receive commission or a cut of any sales for recommending them, I’m just telling you this information to arm you with the best information possible.
